City Livers Visit The Affected

Two city slickers are in Vanua Levu distributing groceries, clothes, blankets and toys to those hit hard by Cyclone Yasa.
Just as the pandemic showed the resilient and caring nature of Fijians, Cyclone Yasa has allowed many to put humanity first and help their fellow Fijians in need.
Navinesh Singh grabbed the opportunity to help out Rotary Club of Suva Peninsula Sunset member Prashant Anurag, with relief supplies.
Mr Anurag had organised the appeal and collection. Mr Singh, a friend of Mr Anurag had made up his mind to help up North the moment he got news of the devastation.
“I have roots in Labasa. My father is from Tabia, and I heard news that my family members were affected as well,” Mr Singh said.
“When I found out that Prashant had already started collecting relief items, I contacted him and informed him of my desire to help out.”
Mr Singh said it was an emotional journey.
He said Cyclone Yasa had not only damaged homes and livelihoods but left many traumatised.
Mr Anurag has always been involved in community work. As a Rotarian, he does his best to serve.
With thousands affected by Cyclone Yasa, he decided to collect relief items and deliver them personally.
He used his own vehicle and loaded relief items onto a trailer to distribute in the North.
The pair left for Vanua Levu on Boxing Day and started distribution the moment they arrived.
Just like the two city slickers, there are many people from around the country who have taken relief items to distribute to victims of the storm.
