Contact Police For Reasonable Means Of Travel Within Curfew Hours

Those who are wishing travel to the North, by boarding the boat at Natovi Jetty need to know they do not have to rush.
Police Chief Operations Officer ACP Abdul Khan has once again clarified those who are travelling outside curfew hours have their curfew passes with their tickets. This allows them to travel during curfew hours.
Recently, two lives were lost after a couple travelling to Savusavu got into an accident and died. They were on their way to board the boat at Natovi Jetty.
Three more people have died near Korovou. There is no doubt more people tend to rush on the roads when it is nearing curfew hours.
However, we cannot have people using the curfew hours as an excuse to rush.
It is thanks to the curfew hours and Police presence on our roads that our road death toll has been 39 compared to 61 for the same period last year.
Curfew has been imposed to curtain unnecessary movement. This is to encourage people to plan their travel in advance but allowances have been given to ensure people do not rush.
Just last week, a group of people from the Suva market went to Totogo Station after curfew to inform the officers that they could not find taxis to go home. Officers at Totogo then called up Tiko Kece Taxis for these people and got them all safely home.
