3792 Curfew Breach Arrests From March 30 – December 20

From March 30 to December 20, there have been a total of 3792 curfew breach arrests made around the country by the Fiji Police Force.

Curfew was implemented by the Fijian Government as part of measures taken in light of COVID-19.

Curfew times:

  • The first curfew implemented was on March 30, 2020, from 10pm to 5am.
  • From April 3, 2020, the curfew hours were implemented from 8pm to 5am.
  • On April 25, 2020, the curfew hours were reverted back to 10pm to 5am.
  • From June 22, 2020 to date, the curfew hours remain in place from 11pm to 4am.

Social gathering

On social gathering, there were 5536 people arrested.

Police Chief Operations Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police Abdul Khan has asked people to respect the curfew hours set in place.

“I also urge the community, when they see people moving around during the curfew hours, to call the Command Centres and alert the officers of such incidents,” he said.

“We cannot be everywhere at all times but we urge the community to assist us and inform us of people moving around between 11pm and 4am.”
