The Sundip Patel Foundation handed over 1000 relief packs to the Prime Minister’s National Disaster Relief & Rehabilitation: TC Yasa fund.

The packs – which equate to 55 pallets or seven truck loads – will assist Fijians affected by category five Severe Tropical Cyclone Yasa.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama thanked the Foundation for their timely assistance.

He said the National Disaster Management Office would finalise logistics.

The relief pack handover was made by Pranil Singh, CJ Patel Group General Manager Sales and Distribution, on behalf of the Sundip Patel Foundation.

The donation is valued at $120,000.

TC Yasa made landfall at 6 pm on December 17 in the province of Bua in Vanua Levu.

The NDMO estimated that some 21,000 families were in the direct path of the cyclone.

About the Sundip Patel Foundation

The Foundation honours the legacy of the legendary former leader of the CJ Patel Group, Sundip Patel. Mr Patel passed away six years ago.

The late Mr Patel was an inspiration to those who knew him.

He was at the forefront of caring and providing for Fijians who were less fortunate through circumstances beyond their control.

He helped others reach their dreams and light up their lives in every way possible.

The Foundation aims to further these aims and aspirations in keeping with its mandate as a charitable body.

The Patel family saw it fitting to launch the Foundation with the 1000 relief packs donation to assist TC Yasa victims.

The Sundip Patel Foundation is a not-for-profit trust.

As lived out by the late Mr Patel, the vision of the Foundation is to assist – where possible – to ensure every opportunity is given to Fijians to realise their full potential.

The Foundation is managed by trustees who are close family members or who have been close associates of Mr Patel.

For the future, the trustees will select projects in line with the vision of the Foundation. This time around, they are glad to be able to assist those affected by TC Yasa.
