TC Yasa: Couple Wastes No Time In Rebuilding Home

A couple wasted no time in rebuilding their damaged home in Nakadrudru, Lekutu, Bua, after Tropical Cyclone Yasa.
While their two children are in Suva for the holidays, Isoa Waqanibaravi and his wife, Vasiti, began collecting the materials they could salvage and buying others from their savings.
They are working against time because they want their children’s lives to be as normal as it can be before they left for the capital.
On Christmas day, while villagers took time out to rest and enjoy with families, the couple were seen nailing and clearing debris in their abode.
“We started rebuilding three days after the cyclone passed,” said Mr Waqanibaravi who works for Fiji Pine Limited.
“We worked swiftly with our rebuilding efforts because we want a safe environment for our children to live in when school begins next year.”
He acknowledged the assistance of those that had been stopping over at their affected community distributing food rations and basic necessities.
“Our family support has been overwhelming and we are grateful for that never ending support.
“2020 has surely been a rollercoaster ride and we did not expect it to end this way.
“However, everything that has happened, has happened and we are slowly picking up the pieces of what is left with us.”
Their work continues into the New Year.
