Schools Cricket Comp In 2021

Cricket Fiji is planning to hold competitions for secondary schools in 2021.
This will be a first for the sport.
Cricket Fiji chief executive, Alex Konrote, said the final decision would be made by the Ministry of Education.
“For the Under-19 category, we’re looking at developing 16-18 years old to be in that grade for two or three years,” he said.
“And depending on the Ministry of Education, we are looking at the secondary school comp next year.”
New Season
Cricket Fiji T20 season starts tomorrow and will end in April.
“For our season, it finishes in April, but 2020 has been a very good year,” Konrote said.
“For Cricket Fiji, we are having two World Cup international qualifications scheduled for August, September and October.
“The men will be going to Japan for the World Cup qualifier and the women will be playing in Samoa for the Asia –Pacific World Cup qualifier.
“It will be a very busy first quarter of the year, first five months, I think all the way to May.
Association Cup
“The first Association Cup challenge this month will see Moce challenge Suva.
“And then the women’s club competition will continue from January 9, then the next challenge is against Ono-i-Lau.
“Whoever wins the first challenge in January will meet Ono-i-Lau in February,” he added.
“And then in March, we start the Easter Cup, which will be a bigger one that is coming up.
“We are expecting 14 teams and some invitational teams.”
The men and women’s national trials will follow after the Easter competition.
