My Loyalty Is With God And The Fijian People: Tabuya

Opposition Whip Lynda Tabuya has broken her silence on her stance regarding SODELPA, saying her loyalty is with God and the Fijian people.
Ms Tabuya resigned from the People’s Democratic Party on December 7, 2017, and was announced as a SODELPA candidate led by former Party Leader Sitiveni Rabuka for the 2018 general election.
Now that Mr Rabuka has resigned from SODELPA and is looking at forming his own party for the 2022 general election, Ms Tabuya said her focus was staying loyal to the needs of all Fijians.
“My loyalty is to serving God and the people of Fiji as best as I can, especially during these trying times,” Ms Tabuya said.
“At the moment I am focused on the responsibilities as the Opposition Whip in assisting our Parliamentary Leader, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu.”
When questioned about her support for Ratu Naiqama, she said as Opposition Whip, she supported Mr Rabuka in his capacity as Parliamentary Leader and she would support Ratu Naiqama in the same regard.
“Right now I am focused on the task at hand and strive to remain loyal to the needs of our people,” she said.
She added she was unaware of Mr Rabuka’s intentions with his proposed new party and whether other SODELPA members were considering joining his party.
