Permanent secretary for the Ministry of Health Dr James Fong.
Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Health and Medical Services Dr James Fong said not all confirmed vaccines for COVID-19 will prevent its transmission.
This follows news of COVID-19 vaccine tests and distributions in the United Kingdom and a number of other countries.
“It may have some effectiveness and it may stop some transmission but not all,” Dr Fong said.
“However, we expect that in due course it may change the way we do our quarantine and make the COVID safe measures less troublesome.
“We are a signatory to COVAX and that will make some vaccines for free and some heavily subsidised.”
