Former alumni of Gurukul Primary School were praised for their vision to assist the Government to better education for posterity.

Stalwarts of the Arya Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji gathered at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Rajendra-Sahay Trust funded classrooms project in Saweni, Lautoka on Tuesday.

National president Arun Padarath said: “The Sabha graciously acknowledges the very kind gesture from the trust. Both Rajendra Prasad and the late Arjun Sahay are former students of Gurukul Primary School.

“Both were very good ambassadors of the school and their thoughtfulness and funding to this project speaks volumes of what empowered students can do for the school they studied at,” he said.

Mr Padarath added that the donation was from the Rajendra-Sahay Trust that was publically announced at the centennial celebration of the school in May, 2018.

The project will see the construction of classrooms and a multipurpose hall funded costing $550,000 from the Rajendra-Sahay Trust.

“Today marks the first step towards the construction of the new wing. We have faith that God will grace the occasions all the way to the completion stages and beyond,” he said.

Mr Padarath also thanked the Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts for being very supportive of the project.
