HMAS Adelaide To Arrive In Suva Today

HMAS Adelaide will dock at the Suva Wharf at 8am today.
The HMAS Adelaide will be collecting relief supplies from Suva to further support Fiji’s ongoing TC Yasa response efforts in the North.
Representatives from the Australian High Commission, including Australia’s Defence Advisor to Fiji, COL Robert Haertsch, will be at the wharf to welcome the ship and crew.
All COVID-19 protocols will be maintained during the event.
HMAS Adelaide’s Commanding Officer, Captain Watters joined the Royal Australian Navy in 1994. His initial sea postings included HMA Ships Hobart, Brisbane, and subsequently Sydney as the Fighter Controller.

As a Principal Warfare Officer he served in HMAS Melbourne, followed by an exchange posting with the Royal Navy in HMS Nottingham as the AWO and Operations Officer. He completed a posting as a warfare instructor at HMAS Watson from 2006-08.
Captain Watters has a Master of Arts in Strategy and Policy, a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws. He is a keen follower of rugby union and enjoys golf.
