Press First For Tuicakau’s Greenstar

Nadroga Football captain Tomasi Tuicakau will lead Greenstar FC against Press in the opening round of the Vodafone National Regional Club Championship 2020 at the Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka today.

Tuicakau led the Stallions in previous encounters including the Courts IDC last year.

Greenstar FC is in Group A along with Lautoka’s Press and Rewa’s Kasavu Sports.

Club secretary Altaaf Ali said:  “The team is focused on playing Press from Lautoka. They have a great history too when it comes to NCC. We will take each team day by day.”

“The boys have enjoyed a good season in the local league and it’s time to add another silverware. Playing at home should boost our performance.

“We expect our loyal fans to turn in good numbers.  We have faith in this group of players to do wonders for the province and perhaps repeat the NCC victory in 1992.”

He thanked Fiji FA for allowing major tournaments as such to return to Lawaqa Park after many years.

The side also has Waisale Tale Jnr, Taniela Robula, Zain Ali, Solomoni Tuicakau, Romit Narayan and Zain Ali, Semesa Savere, and Setareki Vola.

Group B has defending champion Yalalevu of Ba together with Esy Kool Nalovo FC (Nadi) and Northpole FC (Suva).

Meanwhile, during the 1992 NCC final at Govind Park, Ba the side claimed victory over FSC (Ba) 1-0.

Fixtures Today:  3pm Yalalevu-Max Nalovo; 5 Greenstar-Press.

Saturday; 2pm Press-Kasavu; 4pm Max Nalovo-Northpole.

 

Sunday; 1pm Yalalevu-Northpole; 3pm Kasavu-Greenstar.
