RFMF HADR Operation Continue In The North

The Republic of Fiji Military Force’s Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) teams based in the North continue with their operation of rehabilitative assistance following the wake of TC Yasa.
Troops together with government relief agencies such as the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) are currently stationed at the Nabuawalu government compound.
The main task for this week is the distribution of tent shelters, mosquito nets, kitchen kits and other non-food items around the District of Bua.
Territorial Force Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Apakuki Kurusiga with the Brigade’s Chief of Staff Colonel Onisivoro Covunisaqa and Operations Officer Major Valu Raumakita visited the troops and were updated with the latest situation at the Bua Provincial Council conference room.
Currently, RFMF Engineers are working together with their Australian Defence Force (ADF) counterparts on Galoa Island where movement is restricted following strict COVID-19 quarantine procedures.
Troops have also been assisting UNICEF to erect temporary relief tents at Wainunu Medical Centre and the Kubulau Nursing Station in Namalata Village.
