Police are continuing the search for the farmer who went missing during Tropical Cyclone Yasa.

Sione Volotu, 24, had gone to his grog farm with six others on December 17 and never returned.

Meanwhile, Police have called off the search for the three fishermen who were reported missing in the Bua waters.

William Ryder, 24, Rajendra Swami, 49 and Kamlesh Prakash left Labasa and headed towards Bua around mid-day on November 23 to go on their routine trip that normally lasts 12 days.

Ryder’s elder sister, Elisha Ryder, said they have now 50 per cent hope since the passing of Cyclone Yasa.

Ms Ryder said when she called the command centre for an update, she was told that search was continuing.

She said their mother was still waiting for her missing son hoping that he would return one day.

“If it was on land we could go and search for my brother, but it’s out there in the sea.

“We have asked boat owners to keep a look out, maybe they would find something, anything that would help us.”
