Avoid Any Unnecessary Movement, Rainima Warns On Typhoid
Commissioner Northern Uraia Rainima.

There are six confirmed cases of typhoid in the Northern Division.

This was confirmed by Commissioner Northern Uraia Rainima during a press conference in Macuata House, Labasa on Saturday.

“As confirmed by the Ministry of Health there were three confirmed cases post TC Yasa, altogether there are six cases, one in Cakaudrove and five in Macuata,” Mr Rainima said.

Mr Rainima explained that cases that were identified were not from hot spot areas.

He is encouraging people to stay in their homes for the safety of everyone.

He said cases from a non-red spot area were because there had been a lot of movement from place to places during the festive season.

“We are asking people to cooperate with us because we cannot fight this alone.

“We’ve been working night and day to try and get things into order but if the people do not help us, we will have quite a difficult time in trying to address these issues that are affecting us, especially on the health issues.

“We’re asking people to bear with us while we get things sorted out quickly and bring back normalcy on our situation,” he said.
