Rewa champion side Kasavu FC will face Esy Kool Nalovo FC while Greenstar FC faces defending champions Yalalevu in the semi-final of the Vodafone National Regional Club Championship at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka this weekend.

This is after Kasavu FC hammered host Greenstar FC 3-0 in a one-sided affair in their last pool play yesterday.

What happened:

The Setareki Hughes captained Kasavu FC had the advantage of experience, laced with the Rewa reps such as Bruce Hughes, Peniame Drova, Anish Khem, Kavaia Rawaqa, Gabriele Matanisiga, and veteran Simione Tamanisau in goal.

Patrick Joseph opened the floodgates at injury time of the first half to lead 1-0 at the breather.

Greenstar FC had the services of Setareki Vola, Taniela Raubula, Tomasi Tuicakau, Ben Rokobaro, and Zain Ali.  The side managed to cause huge demanding attacks but failed to score.

In the 56 th minute of the second half Setareki Hughes beat Ben Rokobaro to increase the side’s lead 2-0.

19 minutes later Ashlaaq Ali sealed the match and will be a team to reckon with in the semi-final.

The host had some good chance to score but Tamanisau proved too hard to beat.

Comments:

Kasavu FC Setareki Hughes said, “It was a good game and the boys played with passion. Greenstar made us run a lot in the first half. They were fit but we had to launch our attacks properly in the second spell. We wish them all the best in the semi-final.”

Greenstar FC captain Tomasi Tuicakau said, “It is a historic moment for us as we try to emulate our brothers who were in the 1992 team which last won the NCC. We know this match was a formality but our focus is the semi-final. We had a good crowd and support for us in the stand.”
