A team consisting of Western Division Community Policing and Crime Prevention Committee are in the North distributing school stationeries.

Lead by the Divisional Manager for Community Policing, West (DMCP/W) Superintendent of Police (SP) Lepani Liga said they were focusing on assisting students who were affected by Tropical Cyclone Yasa.

“Education is our priority, since most of the relief was on food security but this one will assist on students only in the Northern Division that were affected by TC Yasa,” said SP Liga.

The Divisional head for Community Policing said this was the initiative of the Tavua Crime Prevention Committee and when the Fiji Police came on board, they involved other Crime Prevention committees from other districts in the Division.

The team during their Cyclone Appeal drive managed to secure 500 stationery packs and collected over $20,000.00.

“It is wonderful to see people coming together for a better cause and assisting these children will take a bit of burden away from their parents. I would like to thank all that have contributed to this worthy cause especially to Tavua Crime Prevention Committee.”

SP Liga would also like to extend his appreciation to the Tavua and Vatukoula Community along with the Crime Prevention Committees in the Western Division.

The Western Team in the North is expected to return on Friday morning.
