Police Investigate Alleged Gang Robbery In Labasa

Police are searching for a group of men who allegedly broke into and robbed close to $50,000 cash from Meenoos in Labasa on Sunday night.

Branch manager Harsh Tochawala said they could not believe what had happened.

“When we came on Monday to open the shop, we found that about $45,000 to $50,000 cash was stolen,” Mr Tochawala said.

He said they looked into the camera footage and found that the alleged incident happened at around 12.15am.

“I can’t believe that someone could be stealing during curfew hours,” he said.

“We have reported the matter to the Police and hopefully our money could be recovered.”

Meanwhile, Police spokesperson Savaira Tabua confirmed the report as investigation continued.

No arrests have been made.
