Vuda Alleged Hit-And-Run Driver’s Bail Ruling Today
The 23-year-old man who allegedly killed Mereoni Lewasomo Vuniyayawa in an alleged hit-and-run accident will have his bail ruling heard at the Magistrates Court in Lautoka today.
Eroni Nacanieli Calevu appeared before Magistrate Sekonaia Vodokisolomone yesterday charged with one count of dangerous driving occasioning death and one count of failure to comply.
The incident happened at 7pm at the Vuda Back Road last Saturday.
It is alleged that Calevu lost control of the vehicle he was driving which caused it to veer off the road and hit Mereoni when she was walking along the Vuda Back Road.
She was taken to the Lautoka Hospital, but was later pronounced dead.Prosecutor Police Corporal, Mereisa Seavula strongly objected to bail submitting the rights of an accused person.
Calevu’s bail ruling will be called today.
