A plan is in place to have Pacific island netball teams taking part in the Nations Cup tournament.

Netball Fiji president RubyAnn Sorovaki said talks are ongoing with other Pacific island countries.

However, she indicated that all other plans will be implemented when new Fijian Pearls coach, Jenny Brazel arrives next month.

“On the calendar right now is the Nations Cup in Singapore in September,”Sorovaki said.

“All other discussions on any other games for the Pearls will be Jenny’s call.

“We would like to revisit discussions with our Pacific counterparts the viability of having the Pacific Nations Cup Tournament.”

Meanwhile, Netball Fiji will also continue with its development programmes.

“Our development team is putting together a national training calendar which includes the up-skilling of umpires and bench officials and development of coaches.

“All this will be done in consultation with the NetGo calendar of events,” Sorovaki said.

She added that the training camp for the Fiji Pearls is from 9-12pm and 1-4pm for the Fiji A squads on January 23.

This will include a fitness test and skills training at the FMF Gym.

Meanwhile, Netball Fiji eagerly awaits the arrival of Brezel next month.

Brazel is a former assistant coach for the Queensland Firebirds.

She replaces fellow Australian, Vicki Wilson.
