18 Plead Guilty To Sedition

The State is yet to check on the summary of facts in a sedition case involving 18 individuals who appeared at the High Court in Lautoka yesterday.
The 18 individuals had pleaded guilty to the charges of one count of sedition and one count of inciting political violence.
They appeared before High Court Judge, Justice Chamath Morais.
They are: Timoci Nagata, Esa Namure, Jone Fatiaki, Vive Naiyo, Samuela Nabenia, Salimoni Serau, Semi Uqeuqe, Meli Nasalasala, Viliame Baravilala, Meli Waqabaca, Filimoni Naloga, Timoci Nacalatabisa, Apenisa Tucaketale, Viliame Nasau, Mitieli Raituku, Fonomanu Maresio, Matereti Vuinsa and Livai Talemaicakaudrove.
Seventeen of the individuals were represented by defence lawyer, Josaia Niudamu while the State was represented by Principal Legal Officer, Semi Babitu.
Mr Niudamu told the Court he would give his feedback to the State by Monday. Justice Morais adjourned the matter to January 25 for further mention and to consider the summary of facts and proceed with the voir dire enquiries.
