Fijian light heavyweight champion Savenaca ‘Lightning’ Naliva called on his opponent Eroni Ligaloa to step-up and put on a good fight.

“I don’t need another journeyman,” Naliva said.

“This is another opportunity for me to be in the ring once again.

“Preparation has been above par and I hope my opponent is up with his game as well.”

The duo will fight in the South Pacific Boxing Promotions set for March 20 at Prince Charles Park, Nadi.

Naliva’s trainer Farmaan Ali said his boxer is no ordinary sportsman.

“He is committed to the sport and a win here will guarantee him international title fights,” he said.

Ali had been vocal about Naliva fighting quality opponents in order to boost his international rankings.

SPBP director Mohammed Shameem said they were grateful to host the first programme of 2021.

“It is good to pen the Naliva brothers in this event.

“I have been following them for a long time. It started from the days of their late dad and former Fiji heavyweight champion Filimoni Naliva.

“We used to promote him in those days.”

Shameen added that there are more exiting programmes lined-up for the year.

In the main bout, Fijian cruiserweight champion Alivereti Kauyaca takes on veteran Joseph Kwadjo in his first title defence.

The main supporting bout is for the Fijian lightweight title where Nathan ‘The Hornet’ Singh faces Mulomulo slugger Ronald Naidu.
