Army Set, Ready For First Leg

The Army side aim to get the job done in the first leg of the Super 7s Series which starts at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka, today.
Spearheaded by three Fijian 7s squad members Alasio Naduva, Meli Derenalagi and Jone Manu, the team are in Pool D with Uluinakau, Nawaka and a young Dominion Brothers side.
“We are looking forward to a good tournament,” team manager Lieutenant Epeli Serea said.
“So far it’s good as we managed to mobilise our players from the Fiji Naval base for the tournament this weekend.
“We have the likes of Derenalagi, Naduva, Manu and Elia Canakaivata, hopefully their experience will boost our performance.”
Serea added the team will not take any team lightly.
“I think we met all the teams during the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s, Gaunavou and Taveuni tournaments.
“They are very good teams given their performances in the last few tournaments,” he said.
“Since Marist 7s last year we have been trying to revive the Army team and it is good to see that our game has improved.
”We won the shield at the Marist 7s, plate at the Gaunavou and Savusavu tournaments.
“Unfortunately in Taveuni we were beaten by a star-studded Fiji Police team. However we look forward to playing Police in this tournament.
“We have some players who played in the Skipper Cup Premiership with us so hopefully they will deliver this weekend.”
