Cricket Fiji chief executive officer Alex Konrote has urged teams to turn up to their games on time.

He said they cannot afford to delay any matches in today’s competition at Albert Park, Suva.

“We managed to get through the five matches last Saturday despite one game finishing at 7pm for starting late,” he said.

“It’s one of the issues we want to point out as we are moving into the quarterfinal stages.

“Teams that are scheduled to play at 8am are to be at the ground before 8am.

“Daylight savings has ended but that means a lot of daylight in the morning to be able to bring your teams down to the ground.

“The games are to start no later than 8:15am. This is to ensure that we get through to the last game scheduled for 2pm and fairly give them enough daylight to play.”

Konrote thanked the umpires for carrying out their duties despite the late games.

“We are also working on issues that have been raised to us regarding some umpiring calls. We’ve worked with the umpires to ensure that it’s sorted out before the elimination rounds.”

He said they would continue to provide the new Cosco balls or the used Kookaburra balls.

“If teams wish to use their ball they are most welcome to do so provided they inform the umpire and the opposition captain.”
