Two Still In Labasa Hospital After Bus Accident

Two people remain admitted in Labasa Hospital after an early morning bus accident yesterday.

Police media liaison Sergeant Pawan Kumar said the bus was on its way to Savusavu from Nabouwalu Jetty when it veered off the road and landed in a drain at Dramoka along the Nabouwalu highway.

He said initially nine people sustained injuries. He said four passengers with more serious injuries were taken to Labasa Hospital for treatment with five taken to Nabouwalu.

Sgt Kumar said of the four taken to Labasa, two remained admitted but were in a stable condition.

Police will be interviewing the driver and passengers to find the reason behind the accident.

Police have called on public service drivers to ensure they have had enough rest and ensure the vehicles they were driving is road worthy.
