Despite not having a proper school library, the Christian Mission Fellowship College managed to get a 97 per cent pass rate in the Fiji Year 12 Certificate Examination (FY12CE).

They had a 100 per cent pass rate in seven subjects including Home Economics, Technical Drawing, English, Accounting, Geography, Applied Technology and Vosa Vakaviti.

Principal, Sisilia Racule, said it was a proud moment for her and the school.

Commenting on their English results, Mrs Racule said: “I am glad that students studied books during the D.E.A.R (drop everything and read) reading programme which contributed to the English results,” she said.

Mrs Racule said the success was a collective work from the management, the church, the schoolteachers, and the parents as well.

“The school is just six years old and the overall Year 12 results have progressed from 92 per cent to 97 per cent.”

She said from the 59 students that sat for the FY12CE, 22 of them achieved a 300 plus mark.

The school plans to build a library once funds are available.

“All this while, the library has been a small classroom. To make learning better, we want to have a library which has a better environment and space for students. That will help us in keeping up with a 100 per cent pass rate,” Mrs Racule said.
