Michael Kennedy of Year Six says he was motivated to be a great leader by his friend who passed away last year.

The newly-inducted head boy of Latter-day Saints (LDS) Primary School in Samabula said: “I miss him (Frank) so much today.

“He passed away last year and he was my best friend since Year One and he always motivated me in studies and to become a role model at the school,” he said

Michael wants to become a bank manager.

This year, his focus would be on discipline.

His mother, Evaron Masih said it was humbling to witness her son achieve the leadership role in school.

“For any parent, when their child is chosen to be in a position like this, it’s an honour,” she said.

“The values begin at home, and the achievements that Michael has achieved today just comes from the values we have instilled in him.

“My advice to all the parents is to instill values in their children so they can defeat every battle they face in life.”
