Police Alleged Careless Driving Caused Accident

Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu is urging motorists to take all necessary precautions while driving in the current wet weather conditions.
This follows an accident involving a Toyota Probox taxi and a 12-wheeler truck at Walu Bay, Suva yesterday.
Police spokesperson Savaira Tabua said the accident was allegedly because of careless driving in slippery and wet road conditions.
“The taxi driver was treated with minor injuries and was released from hospital,” she said.
“No fatalities were recorded but that does not mean we take advisories lightly as it could happen at any time.”
Mr Tudravu said drivers were urged to be cautious on the roads during wet weather.
“Roads are slippery during these times and accidents are bound to happen due to over speeding.
“Drivers, please drive within the speed limit as during rainy weather the windscreens become foggy and vision is very poor.
“Pedestrians are also advised to take care on the roads as the rate of poor visibility is usually high during wet weather.”
