Olympian, Jasa Veremalua, has applauded Fiji Rugby Union for a well-planned Super 7s Series.

The first leg of the series was held at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka, last weekend.

Veremalua said this was a good exposure for upcoming players to prove themselves before the national coach, Gareth Baber.

The Korotogo, Nadroga, native played for the BLK Stallions, with Flying Fijians and fellow villager, Manueli Ratuniyarawa.

“I’m thankful that a tournament as such has been organised, to see new talents and potential players who would want to be in the national squad,” he said.

“This will give the national squad more game time before the Tokyo Olympics, as the HSBC series is still on hold.

“This is a huge contribution to their preparation.

“It will help and guide them to be on track, playing against these top teams from around the country.

“We had our time, now is time for the young players to prove themselves and make their dreams of being a national 7s rep come true,” Veremalua added.

Veremalua, who was part of the Nadroga during the Skipper Cup season last year, indicated he needs a lot to work on if he returns to the 7s arena.

“There are many young talents and playing aagnist them has tested my fitness.

“I have lacked a lot in fitness. I will need to work on it if I have to make the side,” he said.

“Anyone can make it to the national side if they commit and work hard towards it, they will be age to it.”

Meanwhile, the second leg of the Super 7s Series will be at Prince Charles Park, Nadi, on February 19-20.
