Tui Macuata Warns Of Dangerous Korosomo Slip, Advises Precautions
Korosomo Hill passing lane on Nabouwalu Road.

Due to the two slips at Korosomo in Labasa, the Tui Macuata Ratu Wiliame Katonivere is advising people using the Naduri coastal road to take precautions.

He said since this slip happened on the main road, people from Labasa won’t be able to drive through the main road to Seaqaqa, Savusavu, Nabouwalu and Bua.

“People would have to enter from main road  Tabia through Naduri coastal roads to come out to the main road before Seaqaqa point,” Ratu Wiliame said.

“This is about 10 to 12 kilometres drive.”

“My advice to motorists please take precautions, don’t speed,” he said.

“We still experiencing bad weather and the road can be slippery.”

He said he was sad to see the devastation, but encouraged people not to lose hope.

“We will rise up again, you do your part and the Government will do their part,” he said.

“While it will take time for essential services to normalise, you do your part.

“We have to learn from our mistakes and improve from now onwards such on planning for more drains, building houses according to right building code and more dredging to take place.”

Labasa Town has not been flooded since Cyclone Ami hit 18 years ago.
