Players who are allegedly using the Fiji Football Association’s Transfer Window to obtain money in dishonest means are going to face suspension or the full brunt of the law, if they are caught.

Fiji FA chief executive officer, Mohammed Yusuf said, yesterday they were very much aware of such cases happening.

“We are coming down hard on these players,” Yusuf said.

The matter arose after a prominent player who had applied for his transfer after allegedly receiving payments from the district that was acquiring his services.

The district posted on social media of the player in their colours after they had sealed the deal.

However, a few days later, the player withdrew his transfer application.

It is understood the player returned to his current club and demanded officials there to pay the money that he had taken from the other district.

In another incident, a player allegedly approached another district official, where he declared his intention of joining them and to be paid $1000.

It was claimed the player received the money but two days later he had not applied for his transfer.

When queried by the district official, the player switched off his mobile phone.

When approached the player alleged that he had used the money to pay his bills but would return the $1000 once he gets his payment from the district, he is currently playing in.

Yusuf said the members of the Dispute Committee (DC) are going to meet on February 12 and look into the cases before them.

If need be, the DC is going to call in players who are implicated so they could be interrogated.
