Three deaths caused by Leptospirosis have been recorded by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.
This was revealed by Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete yesterday.
He also revealed that there were 300 cases of dengue fever recorded from the end of last year to date.
However, Dr Waqainabete said the numbers were not big to declare an outbreak in the country.
“We are not seeing the numbers we usually see before which would go up from 3000 to 30 000 cases,” he said.
“This would be testament to the work of awareness carried out on the ground and Fijians being aware of what to do in times where these diseases are likely to pick up.”
