Youths Team Up To Clean A Nadi Settlement

Make a difference in helping not only your community but other communities as well.
This is the aim of Malawai Youth Club in Nadi.
On Friday last week, the club joined forces with few other Nadi youth clubs to clean the Nawaijikuma Settlement. More than 15 youths gathered to clean the settlement that was flooded during Tropical Cyclone Ana.
This cleaning up campaign was initiated by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Malawai Club Administrator, Asilika Tabua said: “We want to make a difference in other communities.
“This is the first of the many outdoor activities that we will be doing, and we are proud to be contributing to a worthy cause.
“We have mobilised ourselves to be part of the rehabilitation programme helping in cleaning flooded affected areas.”
Ms Tabua said they did a thorough clean-up on the drains and along the road of the settlement.
“Doing volunteering jobs to help communities gives us a sense of relief and pride,” she said.
“We need to work together to keep our environment clean at all times.”
