Vunimoli Islamia College Year 13 Examination top student, Shania Shivani Prasad.

Shania Shivani Prasad made history for Vunimoli Islamia College.

She set a record for the Year 13 exam result scoring 380 out of 400 (English plus best three subjects).

It was a relief for the 18-year-old.

“I have always aimed to break the previous record which was 318,” Shania said.

“I want to study MBBS and become a doctor, but the scholarship has been suspended so I am pursing a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy.”

She gave up her role as the head girl six months before her exams to focus on her studies.

She also sacrificed social media and events.

“During the COVID-19 lockdown, I contacted my teachers through viber, and this helped me a lot.

“I love reading and I am fascinated about science,” said the older sibling of two.

Principal Rajeshwar Nand said through the teamwork of both teachers and students they were able to achieve good results.

Mr Nand said the teachers and students were committed in the coverage and remedial work, and had the support from the management and parents.

“Shania has left a benchmark for students to continue to work hard and achieve their goals,” Mr Nand said.

Year 12 had 77 per cent pass rate with the highest score of 343 while Year 13 had a 92 per cent pass rate.

Her marks:

  • English: 86
  • Maths: 99
  • Chemistry: 98
  • Physics: 97
  • Biology: 82
