Caubati Bands Together For Clean Neighbourhood

The neighbourhood of Caubati 2 Road has taken another step in providing the partnership needed to help Nasinu Town Council.
Last week, the neighbourhood received 25 compost bins from the Nasinu Town Council.
They will be placed with different households and along the Caubati 2 Road.
Nasinu Town Council chief executive officer Anurashika Bari said this was the type of partnership the council was seeking to form.
She said the neighbourhood had taken the step to keep the neighbourhood clean including grass cutting of road reserves and drains.
She urged all neighbourhoods to adopt similar strategies.
“What I loved about this community is that they are not complaining but rather using their effort and energy to make a difference. This community has planned a clean up in their area,” she said.
Caubati 2 Road neighbourhood spokesperson and partnership instigator Suresh Behari said the compost bins would do great in reducing green waste.
He said instead of green waste being piled on the sides of roads, people will get a chance to make compost.
The Nasinu Town Council is also providing the technical training for the neighbourhood as well. Compost collected from the area will be used for organic-based gardening and farming.
Mr Behari said he hoped the community’s work would inspire other neighbourhoods to do the same.
