Suva Chief has made her maiden voyage to Fiji after sailing from Singapore.

She first berthed in the Lautoka Port on February 13 after which Suva Chief made her 11-hour voyage to the Suva Port yesterday.

Suva Chief is one of three new 2750 TEU vessels built for Swire Shipping.

The others are Lae Chief and Noumea Chief.

According to chief executive officer Fiji Ports Terminal Limited Hasthika Dela, Suva Chief is expected to stay in Suva for 24 hours before she begins her voyage to Auckland, Brisbane and finally to back to Asia.

The new vessel is a container ship put into service this year and is sailing under the flag of Hong Kong.

Her length overall (LOA) is 186 metres and her width is 32 metres.

Swire Shipping is expected to disclose more information regarding Suva Chief and its enhanced services to Suva.
