Mr Pattison said that Suva Chief port rotation will be in the Pacific region.
He said they have eight new Chiefs that would be coming out for 2400 TEU and the other four like Suva Chief and the sisters are 2700 TEU.
“It was now time to name one our best vessels for Fiji after coming here for a long time,” he said.
Fiji Ports Terminal Limited (FPTL) chief executive officer, Hasthika Dela, confirmed that Suva Chief offloaded 320 containers and loaded 250 from Suva Port.
The vessel left Suva for Auckland last night. Suva Chief began service in 2021 sailing under the flag of Hong Kong. She carries imported and exported goods from and to the Pacific Region and Asian countries.
Carrying capacity is 2700 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) and her current draught is reported to be 8.7 metres.
Her length overall (LOA) is 186 metres and her width is 32 metres.
