A 49-year-old farmer and SODELPA Nasinu Constituency vice-president, Isikeli Komaisavai, has been ordered by the court to deactivate his Facebook account, and provide proof of it.

Komaisavai is accused of posting a comment on a social media page, calling for a senior Government minister to be shot.

Komaisavai is charged with one count of causing harm by posting electronic communication.

He appeared before Magistrate Joseph Daurewa yesterday at the Magistrates Court in Suva.

It is alleged that on February 10, 2021, at Suva, Komaisavai commented on Facebook, calling for the Fijian Attorney-General to be killed, adding that the Government minister will be killed.

Magistrate Daurewa granted bail to Komaisavai on a cash bail bond of $500 with one surety bond.

Komaisavai was ordered to provide a proof of the deactivation to the Court Registry by February 18.

He is also ordered to report to the Samabula Police Station every Saturday between 8am and 6pm.

Magistrate Daurewa has ordered him not to interfere with the prosecution witnesses.

The matter will be called for plea on April 8.
