Vaksefurie Antonio never forgot her grandfather’s advise to her that honesty and to be a hard worker has to be the hallmark of her employment at Yees Cold Storage Seafood Pte. Ltd.

The 55-year-old grandmother joined Yees Cold Storage, 22 years ago as a cleaner, a job she had carried out diligently till today with her grandfather’s words guiding her.

Yees Cold Storage celebrated 30 years of its existence along with the recognition of some long serving senior staff members.

Ms Antonio came from Losa in Rotuma in 1980 and worked at a garment factory before she joined Yees Cold Storage as a cleaner.

An emotional Ms Antonio, said: “I didn’t do well in school but my grandfather taught me to be honest and to work hard.

“When I applied for this job I couldn’t write an application because I didn’t know how to write.

“The first time I came to work here I just loved the job and the two directors. I always ensure that everything was clean. The company is my family.”

Meanwhile, 64-year-old Rattam Devi, who also served at the company for 30 years said she didn’t intent to look for other jobs because the company has been always there for her.

“I regard this company as my family. What they have provided for has enabled me to support my family.

“My husband was taken to India for medical treatment and this company supported us financially. Whatever assistance I needed the company was always there for me.”

 

Anjamesh Ram
Forty two -year-old, Anjamesh Ram Almost who worked for at the company for 25 years said the guidance of the directors have motivated him to be where he is today.

“I started here as a 17-year-old just straight out of school.

“I started off as cleaning the floor and then to a lorry boy and transit to work in the storage.

“The guidance and the training I went through from the directors have motivated me to grow from where I was to being a warehouse manager with 40 staffs under me.”

“I made up my mind to be part of this company until I retire. The reason is through the difficult times, the company and its directors were there supporting me.”
