Ports Terminal Awards Its Outstanding

Fiji Ports Terminal Limited (FPTL) has awarded its most outstanding employees of 2020 at a function at Grand Pacific Hotel, Suva, yesterday.
Chief guest of the event, as well as the chair of FPTL, Hasmukh Patel said it was imperative to acknowledge employees who run the organisation.
“Any organisation which fails to recognise their employees will ultimately become history,” he said.
“We all know that without employees, businesses cannot achieve anything.
“Machines cannot work without people therefore it is very important that we recognise our people, congratulate them for their performance and invite in-house competition.”
He said without competition, employees will not be motivated to achieve the recognition level.
Employee of the Year 2020 – the major award of the function was; team leader of finance department in Lautoka, Atish Kumar.

Mr Kumar joined the organisation in 2014 as an accounts clerk.
He said he was delighted to accept the award.
“I dedicate this award to my team without whom I would not have received this award.
“This award is a motivation to continue working as a team and doing the best we can.”
Meanwhile, Ratu Tuivonovono who is also the longest serving employee among the award recipients at FTPL said the thought of his family always motivated him to do his best.
“I feel happy that I have received this awar d and my years of service to the company has been recognised.
“I simply love my job.
‘I started working with Fiji Ports Terminal Fiji in 1998 .
Ratu Tuivonovono said his 22 years of expereince has given him skills to operate any machinery he comes across in his line of work.

There were a total of nine categories which were recognised at the award function,

- Best employee in data capturing and recording
Winner – Jona Narogo
Runner Up – Roshika Lata
- Best machine operator
Winner – Jonetani Vulaono
Runner Up – Saranjit Singh
- Best crane operator
Winner – Ratu Tuivonovono
Runner Up – Petero Radaniva
- Best employee in mechanical and gear
Winner – Parveen Kumar
Runner Up – Muneshwar Krishna
- Best stevedore
Winner – Edward Qalulu
Runner Up – Viasi Gukirewa

Launch of website
Fiji Ports Terminal Limited has also officially launched its first organiaation website yesterday.
Team leader yard planning control, Ratu Jope Twake said in a world that is dominated by digital platforms, artificial intelligence and augmented reality, websites have become an important internet business platform.
“It is a major tool for enhancing the ease of doing business digitally thus improving process efficiencies.
“With this webite, current paper submissions will be replaced by online document management system making work more efficient.”
