Vunicuicui and Vuniyalayala Advisory Councillor Suresh Kumar is concerned about the poor road conditions in his area.

Mr Kumar said he had taken up the matter to the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA).

FRA has stated that maintenance work would start from today.

“Currently, FRA is working on Delaikoro and Nabekavu roads. Vunicuicui and Vuniyalayala work will be attended to by Fairdeal today.”

Mr Kumar said the road was well maintained, but after continuous rainfall during Tropical Cyclone Ana, the conditions worsened.

“I was left with a heavy heart when one of my friends showed me photos of school students involved in making the road so that they reach school on time,” he said.

“It is sad to see that the photos are being circulated on Facebook and people giving negative thoughts about Government.

Mr Kumar said there were many students from Vunicuicui and Vuniyalayala attending schools in town.

Dalip Chand and Son Buses Limited director Rohinil Chand said their buses would continue to provide service to the public.

He reassured that they could not suspend any of their services because schools had resumed.
