More Game Time, The Better: Fuli

The Super Sevens Series has been keeping my players busy during this time of the year, says the Fijiana 7s head coach.
Saiasi Fuli told SUNsports on Saturday night that he was impressed with the players’ performance for their respective teams during the two series.
At Prince Charles Park in Nadi, it was Mount Masada’s 33-5 over Mount Carmel that saw them finish on top in the women’s competition.
Mount Masada had the services of Vani Buleki, Ana Maria Naimasi, Raijieli Uluinayau, Viniana Riwai, Aloesi Nakoci, Luisa Tisolo and Rusila Nagasau. Mount Carmel fielded Asinate Savu, Elenoa Adi, Matelita Tuicakau, Ana Maria Roqica, Laisana Likuceva, Tokasa Seniyasi and Akanisi Sokoiwasa.
The Fijiana 7s squad are preparing for the Tokyo Olympic Games which will be from July 23 to August 8 in Japan.
“So far we’re building our combinations by splitting the training squad into two Mount Carmel and Mount Masada,” Fuli said.
“It is good to see that this has enabled us to play more competitive games and get more game time as well.”
Fuli said because of the closure of borders due to the COVID-19 pandemic- this was the only way they could build their combinations
“So far, we have been playing sevens rugby for the past four weeks.
“In Nadi we had three games for each team on day one and day two. We slotted in an extra match after the men’s final to fill in the game mileage that the teams will go through in the tournaments abroad. The completion of six games from the pool stage to the final and we’re getting there.”
The Mount Olympus and Mount Fuji teams consisted of players preparing for the Women’s Rugby World Cup in Auckland New Zealand, which will be from September 18 to October 16.
They were coached by Fijiana XVs head coach Senirusi Seruvakula and Inoke Male.
