The Ministry of Lands has opened an office in Rakiraki and plans to open another either in Nadi or Sigatoka.

It will be responsible for delivery services to 3240 lease files.

This includes 1546 files for Tavua and 1694 files for Rakiraki and a team of five dedicated officials will be serving the two districts.

This was confirmed by Minister for Infrastructure, Meteorological Services, Lands and Mineral Resources Jone Usamate when he opened the office yesterday.

The Rakiraki office is in alignment to the National Development Plan goal on Structural Reforms.

“This includes the Land Reform in “Enhancing land use administration through improving and strengthening administration of lease processes,” he said.

“It is also in line with the Civil Service Reform in decentralising its services to the public for their convenience.

“With the opening of this new office, lessees will no longer need to travel to Lautoka as all State Land Lease services are now offered in Rakiraki.”
