Robbers Feast On Cake And Juice At Lautoka Shop Before Fleeing

A plate of black forest cake and empty juice bottles were seen inside a Lautoka cake shop which was allegedly robbed last week.
Soma’s Cakes owner, Soma Vilashni, a former Fijian national now residing in Sydney, Australia, opened the shop two years ago with an aim to do something for herself and for her two children.
Ms Vilashni believes that the thieves had allegedly raided her shop last Wednesday during curfew hours.
“I closed the shop around 7pm or 7.30pm on Wednesday, the next morning my staff who came before me noticed the grill outside was open and the padlock on the grill had been broken,” Ms Vilashni said.
“We opened the second door inside it was all broken, we didn’t go inside but we immediately called the Police.
“After doing their work, they called me inside. The place was trashed, my office door was broken, my valuables in my cupboard had been stolen.
“They also had a black forest cake which was on the table and they obviously sat here for a while and my staff found empty juice bottles so they obviously had a feast before leaving.”
The value of the items stolen is estimated to be well over $25,000 including cash.
She said the robbers allegedly took the decoder which stored the security footage, computers, laptops, printers including cake items which she purchased from Australia.
Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro said Police had received a report on the alleged robbery of the shop. Investigations into the case continue.
