Wycliffe: Stop Work Order At Tengy

A stop work order was issued to Lami-based Tengy Cement Factory yesterday, following concerns over of emission.
Environment permanent secretary, Joshua Wycliffe, confirmed the matter saying further deliberations would ensue next week after a four-day emissions test of the factory premises.
From tomorrow to Sunday, emissions tests on the factory will be carried out, he said.
Mr Wycliffe met with the environment monitoring committee to discuss the concerns.
The committee comprises concerned residents, cement-making factories, the Department of Environment and the trucking companies.
Emissions tests this week will also include Pacific Cement, although initial findings did not supported the need for a stop work order on the factory, Mr Wycliffe said.
“The reading results will determine the line of action that wll be taken,” he said.
SunBiz made several attempts to reach Tengy Cement yesterday.
