Labasa Taxi Driver Issued Traffic Infringement Notices Acquitted

A taxi driver who was issued four Traffic Infringement Notices (TIN) by the Police amounting to $525 was acquitted by the Magistrates Court in Labasa.

Mahend Prasad, 52 of Batinikama, Labasa appeared before Magistrate Seinimili Levaci.

Mr Prasad was issued the notices on November 14, 2019 at Labasa Hospital taxi stand for allegedly failing to comply with a licence for a public service vehicle permit and allegedly failing to produce a driver’s licence.

Mr Prasad said in his 30 years of service, he had been issued 42 TIN’s and had appeared in Court six times whereby he was acquitted.

Magistrated Levaci ordered that the fine be reimbursed to Mr Prasad.
