Let’s Go Local: Leleuvia Offers Authentic Local Experience – Mario

Mario Petero is an influencer in the truest sense of the word.

More commonly known as Mario Basilio, he runs his blogs on social media platforms; Mario Blog Fiji on Instagram and Mario blogs on Facebook.

His blog, where he promotes local and overseas businesses, has an outreach of over 1000 followers.

Born and bred in the island of Rotuma, Mr Petero said he has also been involved in the catering, tourism and hospitality, and fashion industry.

What Are Your Hobbies?
I love socialising, interior designing, blog reading, photography and drinking coffee every day!

How Many Places In Fiji Have You Visited So Far?
I have visited almost all of Viti Levu, Yasawas and the island of Rotuma.

What Is That One Place In Fiji You Would Take Every Visitor To?
Leleuvia Island Resort just in the Lomaiviti island group.

The resort offers authentic Fijian lifestyle, to those who want to experience it.

From no air conditioners in the rooms so one can experience the natural sea breeze to traditional housing structure, the resort offers one to experience the traditional lifestyle in a short span on time.

What Is Your Favourite Secret Backyard Spot?
I like nature and everything outdoors.

If I have to mention one place though, it would be the entrance to Nanuku Auberge Resort at Pacific Harbour.

The entrance is breath-taking – it  almost feels like you are time travelling with the traditional Fijian infrastructure and artifacts, the infinity pool and the lali (Fijian drum).

What Is Your Favourite Place For A Pie Or Coffee?
I love my coffee from Lazy Beans café in Suva – I love the fact that it is in the heart of the city.

You are able to see the city and yet people walking about are not able to see you so you have your privacy as well.

I love my cheesecake from Sweet Endings Fiji as their service is great, plus they have cakes prepared for immediate buying!

The Republic of Cappuccino (ROC) Café is also pretty great, especially with their avocado smoothie.

The service provided is pretty good too.

What Is That One Spot In Fiji On Top Of Your Bucket List?
Royal Davui Island Resort Fiji would be on top of my bucket list.

Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue, popular highend fashion American magazine, mentioned once that it’s one of her favourite places in the world.

I also want to experience what she loves about the island resort.
