This is a proud moment for my parents, says Dreketi Central College head boy.

Rahul Karan, 18, said he now has an aim to achieve and a responsibility at hand.

He looks forward to working with teachers and the student council.

“This badge is my first gift to my parents,” the aspiring Civil Engineer said.

“They are both rice farmers in Muanidevo, Dreketi. Life is not easy for me as we have to put in more effort to get into school everyday.”

Rahul added that their farm was under water during Tropical Cyclone Ana and his parents are working hard to get back on their feet.

He thanked the student council board and the school management for believing in him to take up the leadership role.

Meanwhile head girl, Kajal Raj said adapting to new responsibility won’t be challenging for her.

“I would be learning and experiencing something new every single day,” Kajal said.

“I had decided to do more community service and be a true leader one day.”

She is ready to take the lead and be a role model to her other four siblings.
