Navua Murder Accused Appears In High Court

A 24-year-old labourer of Navua accused of killing his elderly caretaker appeared at the High Court in Suva for the first call of his case.
Aliki Livai Kiko is charged with one count each of murder and of theft. He appeared before Justice Salesi Temo yesterday.
On February 6, at Viwawa in Navua, Kiko allegedly assaulted the deceased with a metal pipe, dragged the deceased to a drain and stabbed him eight times with a kitchen knife before robbing him off his $100 cash and left him in the drain.
The deceased’s body was discovered the next day.
State prosecutor from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Setefano Komaibaba sought 21 days from the court to file information and disclosures in the case.
Justice Temo granted the same to the State and adjourned the matter for mention on April 13. Kiko has been further remanded in custody.
