Vouchers To Help Students Affected By Cyclone

Ninety-eight students of Lekutu Secondary School who were affected by Cyclone Yasa were presented with vouchers. With these vouchers they will be able to get school items such as shoes, uniforms and bags.
Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts Rosy Akbar presented vouchers on behalf of the donors.
School vice principal Keshwan Mudaliar thanked Ms Akbar for taking time to handover the vouchers to students.
Ms Akbar, who was Labasa, said the ministry would continue to provide assistance to ensure students were well supported to continue classes despite hurdles from recent disasters.
“There are many generous organisations and people who are still willing to come on board to assist students, and the ministry will ensure that the assistance is well channelled so that it reaches the genuine recipients,” she said.
She added that this assistance should boost the morale of students and bring a sigh of relief to parents who are struggling to provide for their families after being severely affected by the cyclone.
She said the ministry urges parents to ensure that children come to school daily and parents are to address any issues that they have with the school heads so the ministry could assist them.
