Also known as the ‘White Shark,’ Ratu Meli Derenalagi has made quite a name for himself in rugby over the past years.

The 22-year-old is a national rugby player, well known for his offloading ability in the game.

Mr Derenalagi also won the Rookie of the Year in 2019 World Sevens series and captained the Fiji Sevens team to their first Sydney Sevens title in 2020.

He currently plays for Fiji Warriors rugby club.

While he is known by the country and international rugby fans, Mr Derenalagi says he is quite a shy person.

What are your hobbies?

Passing time with the siblings and helping them at home.

How many places have you visited so far in Fiji?

I have been around a few islands for the love of rugby because of our rugby tournaments but I am keen to visit more places.

What is the one spot you would take every visitor to, and why?

I would love to take them to visit Turtle island.

It is a great place for leisure and has a nice relaxing environment.

What is your favourite secret backyard spot?

My favourite spot would be where my heart is and basically where my family is.

It is defined by people, and not the place for me

What is your favourite place in Fiji for a coffee/pie, and why?

It would have to be Tea Totoka café at Yatu Lau arcade in Suva because they serve the tea and pastries just like we do at home.

Each bite brings us back to our homes.

Fresh buns from Tea Totoka cafe from Yatu Lau Arcade in Suva.

What is the one Fiji spot on the top of your bucket list?

I want to visit all the Mamanuca Islands in the group.

It is on top of my bucket list right now because of its beautiful white sandy beaches and the beauty it has to offer.
